Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to the Website Saver & Offline Viewer app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Sheenu Jain (collectively, the "Application"). Sheenu Jain is referred to in this policy as the "Service Provider".
Information Collection and Use
The Application collects or handles information when you download and use it. This information may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol address.
- The pages or screens of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the time spent on those pages.
- The time spent in the Application.
- The mobile operating system you use.
- URLs, page titles, site structure, files, images, media, and other content from websites you choose to save.
- Archive metadata such as save status, file counts, timestamps, HTTP status codes, and local file paths.
- Website cookies and related session information needed to save pages that you accessed in the in-app browser.
- App preferences, such as language and viewer settings.
The Service Provider may use information you provide to send important information, required notices, and, where permitted by law, marketing communications.
On-device Storage
Saved websites and app metadata are stored locally on your device. The Application is designed so saved archives, browsing history, cookies, and saved website content are not uploaded to the Service Provider's servers unless a feature you choose clearly requires transmission.
Temporary cookie snapshots may be kept locally while a save is in progress so downloads can resume after interruption. The app is designed to clear those snapshots when the save finishes, is cancelled, or is recovered after becoming terminal.
Analytics and Product Telemetry
To understand how the Application is used and to improve it, the Application includes product analytics provided by PostHog, a third-party analytics service. When analytics is enabled, the Application sends PostHog a limited set of usage events, such as opening the app, submitting a URL, starting and finishing a save, opening the offline viewer, and points where a save fails or appears stuck. Each event includes basic context such as the app version, build number, iOS version, a coarse device class, language, network type (Wi-Fi, cellular, or offline), low-power and thermal status, the current screen, and the save's state.
For the website addresses you save, the Application sends PostHog only privacy-preserving metadata by default: the URL scheme, the host (domain), the path depth, whether a query or fragment is present, and a one-way, non-reversible hash of the canonicalized address. The Application does not send your full URLs, the page path, query values, page titles, cookies, request or response headers, saved website content (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, media, or files), local file paths, your search terms, or anything you type elsewhere in the app.
PostHog assigns a randomly generated, app-specific identifier so events can be grouped into anonymous sessions. This identifier is not the device advertising identifier (IDFA), and the Application does not use the IDFA, does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and does not combine this data with third-party advertising data.
When analytics is enabled, the Application may also record anonymous replays of how you move through its own screens, such as which controls you use and where a step is confusing, so the Service Provider can improve the experience. These replays are designed with your privacy in mind: the websites you browse or save, on-screen images, and anything you type are excluded, so your saved content and the addresses you visit are not captured.
If you use the in-app feedback form, your rating and the message you write are sent so the Service Provider can improve the Application. The form does not ask for your name, email, or account.
Your control: these features are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time in Settings → "Share anonymous usage data." When turned off, the Application stops collecting and sending this data.
Crash and error reports: when analytics is enabled, the Application also reports app crashes and handled errors to PostHog, including the type of error and basic context such as the current screen and save state, so the Service Provider can fix stability problems. These reports do not include your full URLs, saved content, cookies, or local file paths.
Diagnostics: if a save fails or gets stuck, you may choose to send a diagnostics report. Only when you explicitly opt in to "Include diagnostics" for that report does the Application attach the full address of that save and a short timeline of what the app was doing. Diagnostics reports never include cookies, headers, saved content, or local file paths.
PostHog processes this data as a service provider on the Service Provider's behalf. Learn more at posthog.com/privacy.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Application or its third-party SDKs may use cookies, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies to support functionality, analytics, or service delivery. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before using non-essential tracking technologies.
Websites you open or save may use their own cookies, tracking technologies, sign-in systems, and analytics. Those websites are controlled by their own operators and are subject to their own privacy policies.
Network Activity and Third Parties
The Application connects to websites you choose to open or save. Those websites may receive requests from your device, including normal browser and download request information.
If you type search terms instead of a URL, the Application may open a Google Search URL. The Application may also request a site icon from Google's favicon service for the website you save. These requests are made directly from your device and are subject to Google's privacy practices.
This support site is hosted with Firebase Hosting. When you visit this website, Google may process technical request information needed to serve the site and protect the service.
Third Party Access
Only aggregated, anonymized data may be periodically transmitted to external services to aid the Service Provider in improving the Application and related services. The Service Provider may share information with trusted service providers who work on their behalf, do not have an independent use of the information disclosed to them, and have agreed to follow the rules set forth in this Privacy Policy.
The Service Provider may disclose user-provided and automatically collected information:
- as required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process;
- when the Service Provider believes in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request;
- with trusted service providers who support the Application or related services.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data held by the Service Provider. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise these rights, contact the Service Provider at cloudedgetech101@gmail.com.
Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not sell your personal data. To exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights, contact cloudedgetech101@gmail.com.
International Data Transfers
The Service Provider or third-party service providers may transfer personal data to countries outside your country of residence, including outside the European Economic Area. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, the Service Provider will use appropriate mechanisms, such as Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, adequacy decisions, other legally recognized transfer mechanisms, or your consent where required and legally permitted.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop further collection of information from your mobile device by uninstalling the Application. Uninstalling stops the Application from collecting data from your device, but it does not automatically delete information that has already been transmitted to the Service Provider or to third parties.
To request deletion of your personal data, withdraw consent, or exercise any of your rights, contact cloudedgetech101@gmail.com.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider retains personal data based on its necessity for the stated purposes:
- User Provided Data: retained for the duration of your use of the Application plus 12 months thereafter, unless longer retention is required by law.
- Automatically Collected Data: retained for up to 24 months from collection, unless longer retention is required for legal compliance.
- Aggregated and anonymized data: retained indefinitely because it no longer identifies you.
- Data required for legal compliance: retained as long as required by applicable law.
You may request deletion of your personal data, subject to any legal obligation to retain it. Some user-provided data may be required for the Application to function properly. You can delete saved archives in the app, and you can delete the app from your device to remove app data stored by iOS. Files exported outside the app need to be deleted separately.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 16 years of age, or such higher age as required by applicable law. The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from children or market the Application to them.
If you have reason to believe that a child has provided personally identifiable information through the Application or related services, contact the Service Provider at cloudedgetech101@gmail.com so that appropriate action can be taken. If you are under 16 years of age, your parent or guardian must provide consent on your behalf where permitted by law.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information and provides physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect information the Service Provider processes and maintains.
Data Breach Notification
If a data breach occurs that affects your personal data, the Service Provider will notify you in accordance with applicable legal requirements, including, where required, providing information about the nature of the breach and the steps being taken to address it.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by posting the updated Privacy Policy with an effective date. Where required by law, the Service Provider will seek your consent to material changes before they take effect. Previous versions will be maintained and made available upon request by contacting cloudedgetech101@gmail.com.
Your Consent
Where processing is based on consent, you provide that consent by affirmatively opting in to the relevant feature or action. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal. Processing based on other lawful bases is carried out as described above.
